Diesel Engine-Exhaust Braking
Delivering improved control, the 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel engine is equipped with a driver-engaged engine-exhaust brake that provides additional stopping power to the Ford Super Duty when trailering. Particularly useful when headed downhill, the engine brake eliminates the need to use extra brake pedal pressure and reduces both brake line wear and brake fade. Drivers can choose between three individual settings: On, Off, and Auto. When operating in Auto mode, the system will automatically modulate engine braking based on the conditions to maintain a fixed speed based on both brake and accelerator pedal inputs.
Operator-Commanded Regeneration With Active Inhibit
One unique symptom that can cause diesel engines to suffer is caused by their inability to produce enough heat for the engine to automatically burn off soot contained in the diesel particulate filter, something that can be further exacerbated by long periods of idling. Thankfully, the perfect solution to this problem is solved by the available Operator-Commanded Regeneration with Active Inhibit feature. Simply by pressing a button, you can raise the exhaust temperature to burn off this excess soot and revert the exhaust temperature to normal levels once completed. You can also delay the regeneration process when the truck is parked on combustible materials like dry leaves or grass thanks to a clever active inhibit function. Both personal and commercial applications can benefit from this innovative feature.
