Do Ford Vehicles Hold Their Value?
A vehicle is a major purchase, one of the biggest that most people make. While it’s expected that every vehicle will depreciate some, the amount can really vary by quite a lot. Ford resale value is one of the brand’s strengths, but not everyone knows how well this iconic brand’s vehicles hold their value. This is precisely the reason why Germain Ford of Beavercreek has put together some examples of noteworthy appraisals by third-party researchers that should illustrate this idea.
Ford Resale Value - Kelley Blue Book
Kelley Blue Book is the leading authority in resale value, the most trusted name in used car resale values for decades. Every year, they compile a list for their Best Resale Value Awards, one vehicle from each mainstream vehicle category that KBB recommends above the rest. Since resale value can reflect other key strengths such as initial quality or expected reliability, these awards are especially important to consider. For 2025, Ford models took home two of these awards1 in two of the most fiercely-contested categories. The models that took home these impressive awards are as follows:
- 2025 Bronco (Top-10 Overall Mention)
- 2025 Maverick (Compact Pickup Truck)
Ford Trucks Resale Value - CarEdge
Ford sells a lot of trucks every year, more than any other brand. The F-150 in particular is the best-selling vehicle in America. In a lot of cases, it’s scarcity that keeps prices up on used vehicles but that’s not the case with Ford trucks. Even with so many out there, Ford trucks are some of the best vehicles on the market for holding their value2 according to the resale value evaluation experts at CarEdge. Super Duty models in particular are worth mentioning, especially when compared to the competition. The F-250 Super Duty, for example, will retain an average of 65.6% of its value over a 5-year period. The F-30 Super Duty is just behind with 65.6% and the F-150 comes in at 46.5%. All of these numbers are excellent, but it’s worth looking at other trucks for comparison. The GMC Sierra 2500HD, a direct competitor to the Ford Super Duty range, only returns 61.2% expected resale value. These differences amount to thousands of dollars and it’s definitely something we suggest considering a truck.
Ford Reliability - iSeeCars
Ford Mustang
Sports cars tend not to do so well when it comes to resale value, to the point where many industry experts tend to skip evaluating the category as a whole. However, iSeeCars does have a reliability ranking for sports cars3. Reliability is the biggest single factor to consider in determining resale value. With all the vehicles that won KBB Resale Value Awards ranking first in their category here as well, this ranking is still incredibly helpful. The Mustang is ranked #1 on this list along with its Mustang Convertible counterpart taking home the #2 spot. As with trucks, Ford again proves the exception to the rule by holding onto residual value much better than the rest of the automotive market would lead to believe.
