About the Ford Mustang
To say the Ford Mustang has been influential in the automotive world would be a massive understatement. The entire pony car segment is so named because of the Mustang and its various competitors exist because of the absolutely iconic status the Mustang achieved almost instantaneously when it debuted. Today’s Mustang is a marvelous combination of the classic features that made the Mustang a hit in the first place and the latest in cutting-edge technology keeps the Mustang at the front of the pack of competitors. The Mustang is powered by either a 2.3-liter turbocharged I4 or a 5.0-liter V8, both of which produce tremendous power. Inside, you’ll find an interior inspired by fighter jets as well as some of the best in advanced technology. There is a 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster ergonomically oriented towards the driver and the dash curves seamlessly into the 13.4-inch central touchscreen that is used to control the SYNC® 4 infotainment system. Today’s Ford Mustang continues to build on its legacy as one of the world’s most desirable and adored performance vehicles.
What the Critics Say
"Ultimately, this Mustang is destined to be a future collectible, one of the last old-school muscle cars. For that reason alone, we look forward to buying one and taking this potent pony car for a ride." — Consumer Reports
“Now in its seventh generation, the Mustang continues to appeal to a broad range of buyers. Though its 5.0-liter V8 might be the easy choice, the EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder helps keep the price down and can still be a lot of fun. A much-needed new infotainment system transforms the interior and should help keep the Mustang looking and feeling current for years to come.” – Edmunds
What’s New for 2026
The most exciting news related to the updates made to the Ford Mustang for the 2026 model year is certainly the arrival of an all-new FX Appearance Package offered on GT Premium models. Paying tribute to the Fox-body era, this option package adds retro-inspired exterior accents and interior amenities as well. Within this package, you can also opt for a new Performance Package to receive Oxford White wheels inspired by retro Mustang Cobra models. Other highlights include plaid perforated leather seat inserts, silver and blue contrast stitching, and carbon fiber trim from the Mustang Dark Horse. In other news, Adriatic Blue Metallic and Orange Fury have been added to the exterior color choice list for 2026 as well.
Ford Mustang Features
Superior Performance
Performance has always been the cornerstone of the Ford Mustang and each successive generation has raised the bar even more. That’s why the standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost® engine produces 315 horsepower, the most of any standard Mustang engine ever. At the other end of the lineup, the Mustang Dark Horse features the most powerful naturally-aspirated factory Coyote V8 ever, rated at 500 horsepower. Four-cylinder Mustang models come with a 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters while V8 buyers have the choice of a 10-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual with rev-matching. All trims of the Mustang come with impressive brakes, with 12.5-inch front brake rotors and 2-piston calipers coming standard. There are also available 15-inch 2-piece front brake rotors with 6-piston Brembo™ calipers, delivering unrivaled stopping force. Thanks to the available 3rd-generation MagneRide® Damping System, you can enjoy a comfortable ride on bumpy roads and tight cornering on the track without having to swap any hardware.
Cutting-Edge Technology
While the Mustang does put out some seriously impressive power numbers, it’s the technology that Ford uses to harness this power that makes the Mustang truly great. Settle into the driver’s seat and you’ll see two large screens in front of you. One of these is the digital instrument cluster which is customizable with as much or as little information as you want and even has a mode that mimics the gauges in the old Fox-body Mustangs. Next to this is a 13.2-inch touchscreen which operates the SYNC® 4 system. This system include Track Apps® which gives you a whole digital toolbox for tracking lateral g-force, acceleration, and lap times. It also lets you operate the electronic line-lock and launch control. On the road, the MagneRide® Damping System lets you enjoy a smooth ride with readings and adjustments to the suspension happening at a rate of 1,000 times per second. With selectable drive modes, the Mustang is ready to go to the track without even having to swap out any suspension components.
Designed for Performance
The shape of the Ford Mustang is instantly recognizable thanks to the iconic status it enjoys. But that doesn’t mean the design hasn’t evolved over the years. The current model is a sleek and modern interpretation of the Mustang look, featuring the lowest drag coefficient of any production Mustang ever. The headlights are highly advanced projector LEDs and the taillights are LEDs with the classic Mustang sequential turn signals, a blend of the traditional and the advanced. Inside, the cabin is inspired by fighter jets. Everything is designed to be quickly accessible and easily usable. On top of that, it looks great and is available in six different themes. Some optional equipment that adds to the excellent interior design includes RECARO® Micro/Suede Sport Seats, Ambient Lighting with MyColor®, and a 12-speaker B&O® Sound System by Bang & Olufsen®.
