About the Ford Mustang

To say the Mustang has been influential in the automotive world would be a massive understatement. The entire pony car segment is so named because of the Mustang, and the various competitors exist because of the absolutely iconic status the Mustang achieved almost instantaneously when it debuted. Today’s Mustang is a marvelous combination of the classic features that made the Mustang a hit in the first place, and the latest in cutting-edge technology that keeps the Mustang at the front of the pack of competitors. The Mustang is powered by either a 2.3-liter turbocharged I4 or a 5.0-liter V8, both of which produce tremendous power. Inside, you’ll find an interior inspired by fighter jets, as well as some of the best in advanced technology. There is a 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster, and the dash curves seamlessly into the 13.4-inch central touchscreen that is used to control the SYNC® 4 infotainment system. The Mustang was totally redesigned for 2024, with fresh looks and more power, as well as the new Dark Horse trim, which sits at the top of the performance lineup.

What the Critics Say

"Ultimately, this Mustang is destined to be a future collectible, one of the last old-school muscle cars. For that reason alone, we look forward to buying one and taking this potent pony car for a ride." — Consumer Reports

"Not to be overlooked amid all the V8-performance drama, the standard Mustang gets a reworked turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder for the 2024 model year. It delivers 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, making it the most standard horsepower ever offered in a Mustang." — Edmunds

What’s New for 2024

The Mustang received a total redesign for 2024. The styling has been updated to be a bit more angular, but is still immediately recognizable as a Mustang. The engine options carry over from the previous generation, but have been given a bump in power. The base 2.3-liter engine received a 5-horsepower increase, up to 315, and the 5.0-liter engine gained 30 horsepower, taking it up to 480. There is now also a new trim, the Dark Horse. This version of the Mustang has an additional 20 horsepower, making an even 500, as well as quite a few additional performance parts. Inside, you’ll find an updated interior with big, easy-to-use screens, and surprisingly comfortable seats. The 7th generation Mustang is here, and better than ever.

Superior Performance

Performance has always been the cornerstone of the Mustang, and each successive generation has raised the bar even more. That’s why the standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost® engine produces 315 horsepower, the most of any standard Mustang engine ever. And at the other end of the lineup, the Dark Horse features the most powerful naturally-aspirated factory Coyote V8 ever, at 500 horsepower. Four-cylinder Mustangs come with a 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, while V8 buyers have the choice of a 10-speed automatic or a six-speed manual with rev matching. All trims of the Mustang come with impressive brakes, with 320 mm (12.5") front brake rotors with 2-piston calipers coming standard, but there are also available 390 mm (15") 2-piece front brake rotors with 6-piston Brembo™ calipers, for unrivaled stopping force. And thanks to the available 3rd-generation MagneRide® Damping System, you can enjoy a comfortable ride on bumpy roads and tight cornering on the track without having to swap any hardware.

Cutting-Edge Technology

While the Mustang does put out some seriously impressive power numbers, it’s the technology that Ford uses to harness this power that makes the Mustang truly great. Settle into the driver’s seat and you’ll see two large screens in front of you. One of these is the digital instrument cluster, which is customizable with as much or as little information as you want, and even has a mode that mimics the gauges in the old Fox-body Mustangs. Next to this is a 13.2-inch touchscreen, which operates the SYNC® 4 system. Included in this is Track Apps®, which gives you a whole digital toolbox for tracking lateral g-force, acceleration, and lap times. It also lets you operate the electronic line-lock and launch control. On the road, the MagneRide® Damping System lets you enjoy a smooth ride, with readings and adjustments to the suspension happening at a rate of 1,000 times per second. And thanks to the selectable drive modes, the Mustang is ready to go to the track without even having to swap out any suspension components.

Designed For Performance

The shape of the Mustang is instantly recognizable, thanks to the iconic status it enjoys. But that doesn’t mean the design hasn’t evolved over the years. The current model is a sleek and modern interpretation of the Mustang look, featuring the lowest drag coefficient of any production Mustang ever. The headlights are highly advanced projector LEDs, and the taillights are LEDs with the classic Mustang sequential turn signals, a blend of the traditional and the advanced. Inside, the cabin is inspired by fighter jets. Everything is designed to be quickly accessible and easily usable. On top of that, it looks great, and is available in six different themes. Some optional equipment that adds to the excellent interior design includes RECARO® Micro/Suede Sport Seats, Ambient Lighting with MyColor®, and a 12-speaker B&O® Sound System by Bang & Olufsen®.
