About the Ford Maverick
Purpose-built to cater to the needs of a whole new breed of truck buyer, the adventurous Ford Maverick is ready to help you forge your own path. As America’s very first compact hybrid pickup truck, the Maverick proudly offers a targeted EPA-estimated 42 MPG fuel economy rating in the city**. Additionally, the compact platform helps enhance maneuverability, improve bed reach-in height, and makes no compromises on interior space for up to 5 adults. Need even more capability? Its standard 250-horsepower 2.0L EcoBoost engine comes paired with a responsive 8-speed automatic transmission and an optional intelligent all-wheel drive system. When you choose the available 4K tow package, the already impressive towing capacity of the Maverick is increased to a remarkable 4,000 pounds. With careful consideration given to the needs of DIY enthusiasts, the ingenious FLEXBED™ of the Maverick provides an array of cargo-carrying solutions right in the bed. Designed to balance comfort and ergonomics, the interior of this compact pickup is also loaded with a collection of connectivity features to help you stay in touch with your social circle. Paired with an exceptionally low starting price, the Ford Maverick provides the ultimate solution for the next generation of truck buyers.
What the Critics Say
“Ford is betting big on going small. Maverick is cheap and a hybrid; that’s noteworthy on spec, but there’s more to it than that. Hybrids have established themselves as frugal vehicles to own, but they’re often more expensive to buy up front, at least compared to their equivalents. Maverick, being in a class of one, has no such contemporaries.” — Autoblog
“In short, if the Maverick lives up to its potential, it will be the Ford truck I would recommend my dad get if he does buy one. It packs a nice balance of adventure- and homeowner-focused capability into a package you can more easily parallel park on the street or slide into a cramped garage. That everyday practicality balanced with weekend aspiration makes for an appealing and accessible option.” — Popular Mechanics
What’s New for 2026
Only small changes have been made to the Ford Maverick for the 2026 model year. Every Maverick trim level comes standard with the Ford Connectivity Package and a one-year complimentary introductory subscription. Front-wheel drive is now offered once again for models equipped with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine on certain trims. Marsh Gray and Orange Fury Metallic Tri-Coat are two new paint options available on the 2026 Ford Maverick as well.
Ford Maverick Features
Practical Performance
Different from other pickups, the Ford Maverick delivers an inspiring blend of efficiency and capability. Maximum efficiency comes in the form of a sophisticated 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain producing 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque mated to a continuously variable transmission powering the front wheels. Along with its standard towing capacity of 2,000 pounds, the Maverick delivers an unrivaled 42 MPG city and 500 miles of range on a single tank of gas (EPA estimates). Searching for more power? Upgrade to the standard 2.0-liter EcoBoost® gas engine delivering 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque with an 8-speed automatic transmission (7-speed automatic on Lobo models). You can also equip your Maverick with the confidence of an optional intelligent all-wheel drive system along with an available 4K Tow Package that doubles the conventional towing capacity to 4,000 pounds.
Ford Maverick Towing Capacity Guide
Ergonomic Interior
Smart, stylish, and filled with ergonomic design features -- the cabin of the Ford Maverick provides the perfect space to help you chase adventure. Ford has bundled an impressive array of standard tech features inside the Maverick model lineup including a 13.2-inch center touch screen featuring Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto®, and FordPass™ Connect with embedded modem and Wi-Fi for up to 10 devices. Thanks to its spacious crew cab configuration, you’ll have plenty of room for up to 5 passengers along with a variety of innovative storage bins and compartments for essential items like tall water bottles and tablet devices. Great for keeping your valuables and equipment stored safely out of sight, use the fold-up rear seat to reveal a handy under-seat storage compartment. The full collection of available Ford Co-Pilot360™ technology provides a groundbreaking suite of safety features designed to keep you one step ahead of danger behind the wheel of the Ford Maverick.
FLEXBED™ Versatility
Perhaps the most innovative functionality feature of the Ford Maverick is its unique FLEXBED™. This versatile truck bed gives you virtually endless possibilities for customizing and securing cargo based on your own needs thanks to stamped slots sized to fit 2x4s or 2x6s. This gives you the flexibility to build elevated cargo floors, segmented storage, bike/kayak racks, and anything else your imagination can think of. Additional cargo management features inside the bed include integrated threaded holes in the sides, four D-rings, and two tie-downs. Instead of hacking into the factory wiring for your electrical needs, the Maverick features standard built-in 12-volt electrical power pre-wired to an easily removable cover on both sides of the truck bed. With the tailgate up, this 4.5-foot bed has a standard payload capacity of 1,500 pounds, equivalent to approximately 37 bags of 40-pound mulch. With the multi-position tailgate opened, you’ll have room for up to 18 sheets of 4x8-foot three-quarter-inch plywood without the need to angle the panels.
