But on the weekend, the Edge is for the perfect trip or an exciting Sunday drive into the sunset.
What the Critics Say
What’s New for 2019
The Edge has a few new looks available in the model lineup this year with a refreshing new interior trim and bolder exterior trim. The Edge has lost the Ford Edge Sport but gained a new ST trim. This spiritual successor to the Edge Sport has a powerful 2.7-liter V6 engine and other qualities made for performance on the road. The 2019 Edge also has a new eight-speed automatic transmission to replace the six-speed to push speed and power even further.
Ford Edge Features
The Ford Edge was built for speed and comfort on the road more than any other crossover SUV. The Edge comes standard with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost® engine to the SE, SEL, and Titanium. The ST model, however, comes with a 2.7-liter EcoBoost®, the most powerful V6 engine in its class putting 335 horsepower under the hood. But with such power, there is surprisingly little sound in the cabin thanks to enhanced active noise control. When driving on the road, you’ll notice a greater connection to your Edge with the revised electronic throttle when accelerating and sharp engine braking for deacceleration before rounding a corner. The Edge also has available with intelligent AWD designed for better traction for the city roads and highways than 4WD.
Stay more connected with the technology of the Ford Edge with several features that does away with the tediousness of a commute. The available SYNC® 3 AppLink® seamlessly connects to your smartphone through voice commands, steering wheel buttons or the infotainment touch screen. You can also now use Waze, the crowd-sourced navigation and traffic app, on iPhone and Android. The available Ford Edge B&O™ Premium Sound System by Bang & Olufsen offers a premium immersive sound quality. If you want to stay even more connected to your Edge outside of the car, then you can get the FordPass™ app. With FordPass™ you can lock, unlock, or start your vehicle remotely, get important vehicle information, schedule a vehicle service and use FordPay to pay for it.
Luxurious and Convenient Interior Style
The 2019 Edge has a refined and pleasing look inside and out. The inside is something to really appreciate, with the space and style like nothing you’ve seen on the Edge before. The Edge has a new rotary e-shifter that frees up space in the cabin. This also makes room for the new wireless charging pad for your smartphone. Technology makes the inside even more inviting, including the hands-free, foot-activated liftgate for the trunk. Simply put your foot under the bumper and the back will open itself for the 39.2 cubic feet in the back. Put the seats down and you’ll get a maximum of 73.4 cubic feet.
You’re never alone when your Ford Edge is a second driver with the Ford Co-Pilot360™. With sensors and cameras sounding the Edge on all sides, the blind spot will be a thing of the past. As you back out or park in a space, use the available rear-view camera to make sure nothing is in the way. Leave your worries at home about fender benders with pre-collision assist and automatic emergency braking. While you’re in congested traffic, use the available adaptive cruise control with Stop-and-Go to come to a stop and then get back to your set speed during rush hour. You have enough to worry about, the Edge can take some of that stress off you every time you’re behind the wheel.
