2019 Ford EcoSport Model Review with Prices, Photos, & Specs
About the Ford EcoSport
This compact SUV is best for drivers with a lot of places to be and the need for affordable space and safety. The EcoSport also proves to fit its namesake with fuel efficiency and style with a standard 1.0-liter EcoBoost® engine that offers 123 horsepower and a towing capacity of 1,400 pounds. The EcoSport also touts a 28 combined MPG** fuel economy rating. You can rest assured that the technology keeps everyone and everything safe with the BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert so nothing surprises you on the road. The inside is great for passengers as well as cargo with helpful features including bins, a climate-controlled glove box, and 60/40-split-folding rear seats to hold more in the back. For a fair price that saves at the pump and offers safety, comfort and well-rounded technological features, the EcoSport is the way to go.
What the Critics Say
What’s New for 2019
The EcoSport has mostly stayed unchanged from its 2018 model standards save for the SYNC® Connect system which is now replaced by the FordPass Connect™ Wi-Fi hotspot as a standard on all models. A heated steering wheel and heated side mirrors come standard on the SES and Titanium trims. The SES also has a new series of colors while the SE model now has windshield wiper de-icers as a standard feature.
Ford EcoSport Features
The EcoSport’s performance is made reliable by the tried and true 1.0-liter EcoBoost® engine that helps conserve fuel and cut back on emissions. It saves money at the gas station while also offering enough energy to get you where you need to go. If you choose the available 2.0-liter EcoBoost® Ti-VCT engine with direct injection, which also comes standard with the SES model, you’ll have an even more impressive ride. The SES also comes standard with intelligent 4WD that couples well with the upgraded engine. Each model of the EcoSport comes standard with AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability control™ that adds better stopping power, responsive handling, and stability. This will give you peace of mind while driving through hazardous terrain whether it’s snow, rain, or gravel.
The EcoSport has a way with space including a maximum cargo capacity of 50 cubic feet when you fold the 60/40 fold-flat rear back seats. The cabin can be well-suited for the rear swing gate with hideaway latch that gives a unique and stylish appearance. From the SE trim and up, the EcoSport comes standard with a power moonroof with sunshade that really adds a lot to the interior. The EcoSport Titanium and SES come standard with the available ambient lighting in the interior. The feature allows you to set seven different colors to the LED lighting from the front console, door handles, front footwells, and front-door map pockets.
Convenient Technology and Safety
Inside the EcoSport, you’ll find a variety of technological features both functional and fun. The available SYNC® 3 Enhanced Voice Recognition Communications and Entertainment System is best for keeping your eyes on the road while using an app on your phone when it’s connected to your iPhone or Android smartphones. You can bring your smartphone to the car to instantly connect to the EcoSport with the available Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone integration. It also has an optional 8-inch LCD touch screen you can display your phone’s apps on as well.
The EcoSport has safety covered with a Personal Safety System dual-stage driver and front-passenger airbags and knee airbags. In addition, there are front and second-row side airbags as well as Safety Canopy® System side-curtain airbags. The EcoSport also comes standard with the MyKey® feature, which allows parents to implement a restricted driving setting that limits the top speed, maximum audio volume and requires the use of seatbelts. With MyKey®, the EcoSport can supervise anyone you lend the car to.
